At NDIS Superhero, we know that understanding what your NDIS funding can cover can feel confusing—but it doesn’t have to be. Your NDIS plan is designed to help you live a more independent, fulfilled, and connected life.

So what exactly can your funding be used for?

What the NDIS Will Fund

Your NDIS budget can be used for supports and services that help you achieve your goals in areas like:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Social and community participation
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Independence and daily living

But not everything qualifies. To be approved, supports must meet the NDIS rules of being reasonable and necessary.

What Counts as Reasonable and Necessary?

According to the NDIS, a support or service must:

  • Relate to your disability
  • Represent value for money
  • Be effective and beneficial for you
  • Consider existing supports from family, carers, community, or other services
  • Not include everyday living costs that are unrelated to your disability

Before requesting funding for something new, ask yourself:

  • Does this support help me pursue my goals?
  • Will it increase my independence?
  • Will it improve my participation in work or community life?
  • Does it build my skills and capacity?
