Getting around your community, workplace, or study location is an important part of everyday life. The NDIS provides funding for transport if your disability makes it difficult to use public transport.

What Transport Support Can the NDIS Fund?

The NDIS offers three levels of transport funding, based on how much you work, study, or take part in social activities.

Level 1 – Up to $1,606 per year

For people who don’t work, study, or attend a day program regularly. This funding helps you get out into the community—for appointments, shopping, or catching up with friends.

Level 2 – Up to $2,472 per year

For people who work, study, or participate in social or leisure activities for less than 15 hours per week.

Level 3 – Up to $3,456 per year

For people who work (or are looking for work) or study more than 15 hours per week and can’t use public transport because of their disability.

Higher Needs Transport Funding

If you require special assistance to work (such as support workers or assistive technology), you may be able to access extra transport funding in your NDIS plan.

Tips for Your NDIS Transport Funding:

  • When planning or reviewing your NDIS plan, think carefully about your transport needs.
  • If your ability to travel affects your work, study, or social life, let your planner or Local Area Coordinator know.
  • Transport funding is generally paid directly to you to help cover the cost of taxis, rideshares, or private transport services.
