At NDIS Superhero, we’re often asked: “Am I eligible for NDIS funding?” The answer depends on a few key factors—but the good news is that the NDIS is designed to support Australians living with disability to live safer, more independent, and more fulfilling lives.

If you’re thinking about applying, here’s what you need to know.

Who Can Access the NDIS?

To apply for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category visa
  • Be aged between 7 and 64 years
  • Have a permanent and significant disability that impacts your ability to take part in everyday activities

The NDIS looks at how your disability affects your life—not just your diagnosis or condition. This includes things like your ability to communicate, move around safely, care for yourself, or take part in social, work, and community activities.

What Disabilities Are Covered?

The NDIS website provides helpful guides, such as List A and List B, which include conditions that are likely to meet the disability requirements. However, these lists are not the final word—each application is carefully assessed based on your unique circumstances.

Even if your specific condition isn’t listed, you may still qualify for NDIS funding if you can show that your disability is both permanent and significantly impacts your life.
