At NDIS Superhero, one of the common questions we hear is: “Is there an age limit to access the NDIS?” The answer depends on your stage of life and support needs.

NDIS Age Eligibility

To access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS):

  • You must be aged between 7 and 64 years at the time you apply.
  • If you are 65 or older, disability services are usually accessed through the aged care system instead.

However, if you’re already an NDIS participant when you turn 65, you can choose to stay with the NDIS or transition to aged care services.

Supports for Young Children

For children under seven, the NDIS provides support through the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) program. This ensures that young children with disability or developmental delay can access early supports to improve their outcomes.
